What you agree to when you buy from Self-Care NOW.

Last updated: [date of publication]

1. Who we are

Self-Care NOW is a trading name of Catalyst Counselling, ABN 55 282 966 331, an Australian business located in Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Catalyst Counselling trading as Self-Care NOW. "You" means the person buying or using anything on this website.

Contact: cch.phapp.1610@gmail.com

Catalyst Counselling is the entity you are contracting with. It is the name that appears on your invoice and receipt.

2. Agreeing to these Terms

By buying anything from selfcarenow.org, creating an account, or using the material, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not buy.

3. You must be 18 or over

Our material is written for adults. By buying, you confirm you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly sell to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

4. What we sell, and what it is

We sell self-guided educational material written by Deborah Young, a practising psychotherapist:

  • Ebooks and audiobooks
  • PDF workbooks, given free with a related purchase
  • Recorded counselling sessions
  • Online courses

This material is education, not treatment. Buying it, reading it, listening to it, watching it or completing its exercises does not create a therapeutic, counselling, coaching or client-professional relationship between you and Deborah Young or Catalyst Counselling. No assessment is made of you. No clinical notes are kept about you. Nobody reviews what you write in a workbook.

The full disclaimer that accompanies every product is set out at clause 15 and appears on every page of this website.

5. We do not promise outcomes

We make no promise about what will change for you. Not about weight, grief, a relationship, sleep, work, recovery, or anything else. Results depend on your own circumstances, and we make no assurance of any specific outcome, result or personal achievement.

Any example, reflection or case in the material is illustrative only.

6. Prices and payment

All prices are shown and charged in Australian dollars (AUD).

ProductPrice (AUD)
Ebook$19.99
Audiobook$19.99
Online course$89
Recorded counselling session$109
Group counselling session$299
PDF workbookFree with a related purchase

If your payment card or account is denominated in another currency, your bank or payment provider will convert the amount at their rate and may add their own fees. Those charges are between you and them; we do not receive them and cannot refund them.

Payment is taken through our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.

We may change prices at any time. The price that applies to you is the one shown at the moment you pay.

⚠️ ADVISER — tax. This draft says nothing about GST, VAT or sales tax, because it should not be guessed at. Two questions for Deb's accountant:

  • Australian GST. Registration is generally required once turnover reaches $75,000. There is no revenue yet, so presumably not registered — but that changes, and the site and invoices must change with it.
  • Overseas consumption taxes. Several jurisdictions expect an overseas supplier of digital products to register and collect from the first sale, including EU VAT and UK VAT. This is a real exposure for a business that has just decided to sell worldwide, and it is cheaper to ask now than to discover it later.

7. Discounts, bundles and referral codes

  • $10 off when you buy any two books together
  • $15 off when you buy any three books together
  • $10 off an online course
  • $10 off a recorded counselling session

Where a discount requires a referral code, the code must be valid and unexpired at the time of purchase.

Discounts cannot be combined. Only one discount applies to any purchase. ✅ *Confirmed by Deb 2026.08.23.*

Referral codes are issued by us. A code has no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and we may cancel or refuse a code that is being misused, shared publicly or used in a way it was not intended for.

Arrangements with referring organisations are private and are not set out here.

7a. Workplaces

Businesses are welcome to buy, and there is no licence to sign. A workplace pays for what it uses, in the same way an individual does. The group counselling session is sold per session at its listed price and seats the number of people stated on the shop page.

We do not offer an ongoing or unlimited staff licence. There is no subscription, no seat pool and no annual fee.

8. How you receive what you buy

Ebooks, audiobooks and PDF workbooks can be downloaded to your device and are yours to keep. They do not expire.

Recorded counselling sessions and online courses stream from your account and cannot be downloaded. You may watch them as often as you like. More than one person may watch the same session at the same time — this is allowed and intended, for example a couple or a family watching together.

This distinction is deliberate. The recorded sessions and courses are clinical work, and keeping them non-downloadable is how we protect them.

Free PDF workbooks are issued after payment of a related product in the same subject.

9. What you may and may not do with it

When you buy, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the material for your own personal, non-commercial use.

You may: read, listen to, watch and re-watch it; print a workbook for your own use; complete the exercises; and, for a recorded session, watch it alongside the people in your household or relationship.

You may not:

  • copy, republish, upload, post or share the material publicly or on any file-sharing service
  • resell, sublicense, rent, lend or transfer it to anyone
  • circumvent, disable or interfere with any measure that stops sessions or courses being downloaded
  • record, screen-capture or rip a streamed session or course
  • use the material to teach, train, coach, counsel or treat other people commercially
  • use it to train an artificial intelligence model
  • remove any copyright notice, author credit or disclaimer

All material remains the intellectual property of Psychotherapist Deborah Young. Nothing you buy transfers ownership to you.

If you are a workplace, a clinic or a group wanting to use this with staff or clients, that is a different arrangement. Get in touch and we will sort out the right licence.

10. Your account

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used to breach clause 9. Where we do, we will normally tell you why and give you a chance to respond, unless doing so would defeat the purpose.

11. Availability of the website

We try to keep the site available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it.

If we permanently withdraw a product you have already bought, we will give you a reasonable opportunity to download it, or refund you if it cannot be provided.

12. Products still in production

Our website lists subjects and products that are not yet made. These are clearly marked "in production" and cannot be bought. Where you have asked to be told when one is ready, that is not an order, we have not taken payment, and we are not committing to a date or to making it at all.

13. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that they will be of acceptable quality and match their description. Where we are permitted to limit our liability for breach of a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to resupplying the product or paying the cost of resupply.

If you are buying from outside Australia, you may have similar rights under your own local law. Nothing here takes those away either.

14. Our liability

⚠️ ADVISER — this clause needs review. A limitation of liability is only worth what the law allows it to be worth, and Australian Consumer Law restricts this considerably for consumer sales. The wording below is deliberately moderate rather than aggressive, because an unreasonable exclusion is more likely to be struck out entirely.

Subject to clause 13, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We provide the material for educational and informational purposes and disclaim liability for loss or consequence arising from your use or misuse of it.
  • We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue or opportunity.
  • Where our liability is not otherwise limited or excluded, it is capped at the amount you paid us for the product concerned.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

15. Disclaimer

⚠️ ADVISER — placement. Deb's rule is that this disclaimer travels with every product word for word and is never trimmed, paraphrased or moved into a terms page. It appears on every page of the website and inside every book. It is reproduced here as well, not instead. Worth confirming that repeating it in the Terms is helpful rather than harmful, and whether Catalyst Counselling should be named in it alongside Deborah Young.

16. If you are in crisis

This website is not an emergency service and nobody monitors it around the clock.

If you are in immediate distress or danger, please contact someone who can respond straight away. In Australia, Lifeline is on 13 11 14, any hour of any day, and the emergency number is 000. Outside Australia, please contact your local crisis line or emergency service.

If you email us and we are worried about you, we may reply pointing you to a crisis service. We cannot provide crisis support ourselves.

17. Refunds

Refunds are covered in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

18. Privacy

How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Because of what we sell, what you buy can indicate something personal about you, and the Privacy Policy explains specifically how that is protected.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published when you paid. If we make a significant change, we will note the update date at the top of this page.

20. Governing law

⚠️ ADVISER — this needs review for a business selling to consumers worldwide. Many countries do not allow a consumer to be stripped of the protection of their home courts, so a bare "Queensland only" clause may not hold. The wording below is the usual starting point and needs checking.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory law of the country where you live.

21. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Refund Policy and Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us.
